Summerween 2023 – Summer Halloween Events in Southern California

 

 

With the 4th of July behind us, it seems like the spooky season is starting to creep in a little early! Check out these fun and spooky Halloween-themed events happening this summer.

 


 

BEETLEJUICE: The Musical. The Musical. The Musical.
July 11-30, 2023
Pantages Theatre, Los Angeles

He earned his stripes on Broadway… now the ghost-with-the-most is coming to Los Angeles. Based on Tim Burton’s dearly beloved film, this hilarious musical tells the story of Lydia Deetz, a strange and unusual teenager whose whole life changes when she meets a recently deceased couple and a demon with a thing for stripes. Under its uproarious surface (six feet under, to be exact), BEETLEJUICE is a touching show about family, love, and making the most of every Day-O!

The show is recommended for ages 10 and up. Children 5 and under will not be admitted into the theatre.

 

 

Witches Brew Night Market
July 22-23, 2023
Anaheim Packing District

Get some spooky shopping done, enjoy photo ops, and dining at this all-ages, pet-friendly event. No tickets needed, event is free to attend. Also happening July 8 and August 12 at The Den Cafe in Santa Ana.

 

 

Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, Los Angeles

R.L. Stine’s classic kids’ horror series returns to the big screen. Slappy the Dummy leads a host of classic Goosebumps monsters, witches, and ghouls in a silly and spectacular spookfest. Tickets are $5 for everyone.

 

 

Disney’s Haunted Mansion
Release Date: Friday, July 28, 2023

Inspired by the classic theme park attraction, “Haunted Mansion” is about a woman and her son who enlist a motley crew of so-called spiritual experts to help rid their home of supernatural squatters. Catch the Haunted Mansion Fan Events at El Capitan Theatre on July 27-28 for a Doom Buggy photo op, costume displays, and maybe even see a ghost.

 

 

Midsummer Scream
July 28-30, 2023
Long Beach Convention Center

Midsummer Scream has all the frights and fun of Halloween over one summer weekend! Do a little spooky shopping with over 350 vendors, visit the Hall of Shadows with haunted attractions produced by professional and home haunters from Southern California, cuddle with adoptable feline beasties at the Black Cat Lounge, and enjoy live panels, presentations, and entertainment.

The littlest monsters will enjoy Paranormal Pixie’s Pumpkin Patch, a gore-free, scare-free area with performances, activities, book readings, and more.

Passes are $35 for Friday, $50 for Saturday, $40 for Sunday, or $65 for the whole weekend.

 

 

Roger’s Gardens Halloween Boutique Opening

Roger’s Gardens, Newport Beach

Roger’s Gardens is a unique shopping destination for creatively curated Halloween décor and one-of-a-kind Halloween artisan pieces designed as an unforgettable retail experience. Every nook and cranny of the boutique features curated items highlighting a unique theme (TBA). Previous year’s themes included NightmareCabinet of Curiosities, A Pirate’s Life for MeMalice in Wonderland, and Hocus Pocus.

 

 

Creep it Real OC
September 16-17, 2023
Heritage Museum of Orange County, Santa Ana

Creep it Real OC returns with a spooky summer camp-themed event. Find over 100 Halloween and horror-themed vendors, live Halloween music, photo ops, plus meet and greets with the cast of Disney’s Hocus Pocus. The event takes places on historic grounds featuring two homes from the 1800s that are actually haunted. Tickets are $15 for one day or $25 for the weekend. Admission is free for children 10 and under.
