Catch a showing of the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie on the quad of Long Beach City College, Liberal Arts Campus. Movie starts at sunset (around 8pm). Local food trucks and kettle corn will be onsite. Guests are welcome to bring their own food too. Parking is free!

Boarded! A New Pirate Adventure
Where: Maritime Museum of San Diego
When: Saturday, September 3 and November 26, 2022
This hilarious interactive show puts visitors right in the middle of the pirate action aboard San Salvador, a replica 1542 Spanish galleon. Participants will be sworn in as part of the ship crew, trained how to navigate, sword fight, bail water from a sinking ship, escape from the King’s Jail, swab the deck and other pirate skills.
Price: $60 for adults, $25 for children 12 and under

Ocean Institute Maritime Festival

This festival celebrates California’s rich maritime history and our connection to the ocean! The fun-filled weekend features visiting tall ships, cannon battles, mermaid swim shows, pirate school, live music, re-enactors and sailor camp, vendors, food trucks, and more.

Another local hidden gem! The tower was originally built in 1926 as an enclosed staircase to the beach for William E. Brown, a senator from Los Angeles. In the 1940s, Brown sold his home to retired naval captain, Harold Kendrick. Kendrick was a lifelong pirate aficionado and would dress up as pirate and hide treasure in between the cracks and crevices of the tower for neighborhood kids to find.
Maritime Museum of San Diego
See a world-class collection of historic sailing ships, steam-powered boats, and submarine, each offering entertaining and educational exhibits. The museum offers sailing adventures on the water and special events throughout the year.
