San Diego Model Railroad Museum

The San Diego Model Railroad Museum is located in Balboa Park, inside the Casa de Balboa Building on the lower level.

The museum spans over 27,000-square-feet of trains, trestles, and tracks. Permanent exhibits include the Toy Train Gallery, the Centennial Railway Garden, Pacific Desert Lines, the Southern Pacific, the Cabrillo & Southwestern, and the San Diego & Arizona Eastern.

Their newest rotating exhibit, Step Right Up: Circus Trains, explores the history of circus trains and their ability to transport animals, equipment, and performers. This exhibit will run June through November 2023.

The museum also offers school programs, scout programs, camps, and special events scheduled throughout the year. Birthday party and event rentals also available.
