Mt. SAC – Randall Planetarium

The Randall Planetarium at Mt. SAC (San Antonio College) has been serving the community for over 40 years since opening its doors in 1968. The facility is used as an instructional facility (astronomy classes, presentations for local schools) and for public productions that open our remarkable galaxy to the community at large. The Randall Planetarium facility has a 35-foot-diameter hemispherical dome and seats up to 75 people.

New planetarium shows are offered every month. Some of the shows geared towards families include One World, One Sky: Big Bird’s Adventure, Larry Cat in Space, and Earth, Moon, & Sun. Tickets for these shows can purchased online or at the door.

Free telescope viewing is also available once a month at the Mt. SAC Observatory (weather permitting). See their calendar for a schedule of events and shows.

A variety of packages for birthdays, field trips, scouts, and other events are offered.

KG Tip: On October 14, 2023, witness a partial solar eclipse, along with free telescope viewing and planetarium shows. Halloween Happening events will take place October 27, 2023, with spooky planetarium shows featuring ghostly nebulas and scary supernovas.
