Explore the wonders of science through interactive exhibitions, live demonstrations, innovative programs and awe-inspiring films.

Permanent exhibits include:

  • Fire! Science & Safety – Explore the science of fire by creating “fire”, practicing firefighting skills with a fire extinguisher, and figure out which appliances might blow a circuit when used together.
  • Life! Beginnings – Discover how humans and all living creatures reproduce, develop, and pass on their genes to bring new life into the world.
  • Ecosystems – Explore the kelp forest, rocky shore, desert, poles, deep-sea vents, island zone, river zone, L.A. zone, and global zone.
  • Air & Space – See a unique collection of artifacts and hands-on activities to discover how humans design aircraft, spacecraft and space probes for specific tasks.
  • Space Shuttle Endeavour – See Endeavour up close and discover the science behind this amazing vehicle. December 31, 2023, will be the last chance to see Endeavour on exhibit for several years until the Samuel Oschin Air and Space Center opens to the public.

Admission to the Science Center is free (excludes IMAX and special ticketed exhibitions).

Kidsguide Tip: A new special ticketed exhibition running through January 15, 2024, Maya: The Exhibition, features over 250 authentic artifacts, many on tour outside of Guatemala for the first time, highlighting the ancient Maya civilization of Mexico and Central America.
